The ESA (Europe’s NASA) are currently running a space mission called Mars Express, which consists of two parts – an orbiter, and a lander. The Mars lander (called “Beagle 2”) failed to land on the planet, but the orbiter has been functioning well for almost a decade now.

The video below is a showcase of Mars, created from photos taken by the orbiter. The cameras used were developed and are being operated by the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

The Mars Express Orbiter has orbited the red planet more than 10,000 times since its arrival in early 2004. This has allowed the DLR to create a 3D fly-over experience of the planet – and that’s just awesome!

Enjoy the video! 🙂
