Here is one of my favorite videos of the Moon. It comes with lovely music, too. Thank you, NASA.

The video is made up of actual pictures taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft throughout the year 2013. The LRO is currently in orbit around the Moon, at a mere height of 50 km and a speed of 1.6 km/s.

Every frame in this video represents 1 hour of photographs. The entire year is squeezed into 5 minutes. For those watching, try to spot the largest (and very popular) “super-moon” of 2013 and let me know where it is in the comments!

Enjoy!
