New images from Rosetta! By the end of the year, the Rosetta spacecraft will orbit and land a probe on Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko, which it has been stalking for quite a while.
Rosetta was launched about 10 years ago (!), in 2004. In January of this year, it was successfully taken out of a 31-month hibernation that began in mid-2011.
The Rosetta orbiter has got 12 scientific instruments on-board, while the lander (called “Philae”) has 9 instruments.
